Project Summary

This animated training module was designed to help Lethbridge University students confidently approach their lecturers about challenges they may be experiencing in the classroom. The training employs animation and voiceover narration to create an immersive, real-world scenario, equipping students with practical strategies for effective communication. This concept project highlights my versatility in creating visually appealing, engaging, and contextually relevant eLearning experiences. While the template used in this project is subject-specific, it serves as a benchmark for the quality and attention to detail I bring to all instructional design projects.

Instructional Design Process

Identifying the Problem and Solution

Context: University students often struggle with initiating discussions with their lecturers about classroom challenges, leading to unresolved issues that impact learning outcomes.

Challenge: Create a learning experience that builds students’ confidence and provides actionable guidance for these conversations.

Proposed Solution: An animated training module with the following objectives:

1. Demonstrating effective approaches to discussing classroom challenges with lecturers.

2. Highlighting key topics students should focus on during these discussions.

3. Providing realistic, scenario-based examples to guide learners.

Design and Development Approach

Framework:

This project was guided by a structured instructional strategy, combining tools and methodologies to create an engaging learning experience.

Key Elements:

– Action Mapping: Using MindMeister, I mapped out business goals, learning objectives, and practice scenarios to ensure alignment with student needs and project goals.

– Visual Design: Characters and scenes were designed in Adobe Photoshop and animated using Adobe After Effects. Careful attention was paid to realism, ensuring that learners could relate to the scenarios depicted.

– Scenario Simulation: Recorded voiceovers narrated walk-through scenarios to emphasize the critical points students should consider when addressing issues with their lecturers.
